Privacy Policy — askQ.live

Last updated: 14 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the sole proprietor, operating the askQ.live platform ("askQ.live", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your personal data when you use our Service.

We are the "Data Fiduciary" for the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") in respect of the personal data described below.

1. What we collect

Account data — when you create an account: your name, email address, mobile number, and password (stored in hashed form).

Profile data — optional information you choose to add: display name, profile image, organisation name, bio.

Quiz data — quizzes you create, questions and answers, participation records, responses submitted by participants, and analytics derived from participation.

Payment data — when you pay for a plan or send/receive a tip: your billing name, billing address, and transaction identifiers. We do not store your full card number, CVV, or bank credentials — these are handled directly by Razorpay, our payment provider.

Technical data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, referral source, and Service usage logs, collected via cookies and similar technologies.

Communications — records of your correspondence with us, including support requests.

2. How we use it

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • To create and manage your account
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To provide customer support
  • To send Service-related notifications (transactional emails, security alerts)
  • To improve the Service, including analytics and troubleshooting
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • To comply with legal obligations

Legal basis under the DPDP Act: we process personal data based on your consent (which you provide by using the Service and, where applicable, through explicit opt-ins), and for legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act including performance of the service you have requested, compliance with law, and prevention of fraud.

3. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in
  • Remember your preferences
  • Measure how the Service is used
  • Detect and prevent fraud

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect Service functionality.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Razorpay — our payment provider, for processing payments, tips, and subscriptions
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — cloud, database, and email delivery services that operate under written contracts requiring appropriate data protection
  • Professional advisers — auditors, accountants, and legal advisers, bound by confidentiality
  • Government or regulatory authorities — where required by applicable law, court order, or legal process
  • Successors — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the acquirer honouring this Policy

Quiz Hosts have access to participation data for quizzes they run — for example, participant display names and responses. If you participate in a quiz, the Host is a separate Data Fiduciary for their own processing of that data.

5. Data localisation and international transfers

We store personal data of Indian users primarily on servers located in India. Where any transfer outside India occurs (for example, via a service provider), it is done only to jurisdictions not restricted by the Government of India under the DPDP Act, and subject to appropriate safeguards.

6. Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, and for any additional period required by applicable law (for example, tax and payment records under the Income Tax Act and GST law). When personal data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights under the DPDP Act

Subject to conditions under applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access — request confirmation of and access to your personal data
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
  • Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (see below)
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
  • Nominate — nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at connect@askq.live.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data of children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews to protect your data. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Third-party links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites. This Policy does not apply to those sites; we recommend reviewing their privacy policies.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or in-Service notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acknowledgement.
